I've been having discussions lately with women and there are quite a few that insist the price of the ring tells how much their husbands love them. Diamonds are more than best friends, they are down payments apparently.
It is called the pension plan. We men have De Beers to thank for that...a worthless piece of charcoal is suddenly the most sought after thing. Thankfully women don't realise rubies are more expensive or else us men would be sent to debtors jail just thinking about getting married.
